QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Welding training certificate and ability to pass welding tests.
  • College certificate for a 40 week welder/fitter or equivalent practical experience.
  • Able to read blueprints, prepare a bill of material and parts lay-out.
PREFERRED ASSETS:
  • Experience in manual and semi-automatic welding processes.
  • Experience in working in an ISO 9001 standard production environment.
  • Able to upgrade skills as required to meet customer and company requirements.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
  • Check blueprints and specifications.
  • Prepare bill of material and cutting list.
  • Perform manual fit-up operations and welding as required.
  • Operate various hand tools and machinery used in fabrication.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Ability to perform manual and semi-automatic to company standards.
  • Ability to operate shop fabricating and welding equipment.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work with hand operated tools and measuring equipment used in fabrication.
  • Capable of working in a production team environment with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to complete quality system check sheets, written tags and production reports.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Engineering Diploma or Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Competent in the use of related computer programs and instrumentation equipment.
  • Proficient in interpretation of blueprints, preparation of estimates, bill of materials and parts lay-out.
  • Practical knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Safety training and/or experience in safe procedures at work place.
  • WHIMIS training certificate.
PREFERRED ASSETS:
  • Experience in design, preparation of concept and fabrication drawings
  • ISO Quality training and/or experience in working in an ISO 9001 Standard production environment.
  • Organizational and delegating trade skills with the understanding of quality, profitability, fairness and customer service.
  • Eligibility for licensing through OACETT or PEO is preferred.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
  • Carry out the proper design and selection of components and their integration into the larger system to support the required form, fit and function of the product and to follow applicable standards and regulations.
  • Detail their design using proper drafting techniques into bills of materials, fabrication/assembly details, and inspection/testing details.
  • Support their designs by working directly alongside production team members during builds and making the necessary updates via Engineering Change Notices (ECN).
  • Communicate with other internal departments such as Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Customer Support.
  • Support the Quality objectives of the company.
  • Demonstrate leadership and mentorship in the execution of the overall design activities and provide technical oversight to less experienced members to support the goals set by the Product Manager.
  • Manage projects as assigned by their Product Manager with attention to schedule, capacity planning, and other project deliverables.
  • Increase the productivity and effectiveness of the overall design team by looking for new and improved ways to carry out the required work.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Ability to participate in multiple technical projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to organize, estimate, co-ordinate, expedite the manufacture of projects as required for quality and profitable operation of the business.
  • Ability to initiate work orders; preparation of shop drawings; coordination and scheduling of receiving materials for production.
  • Ability to create a team work in cooperation with technical manager, supervisors and office administrator on planning, cost control, company competitive pricing and quality.
  • Ability to continuously work on improvement of quality, efficiency and productivity on the shop floor and in the field.
  • Ability to maximize material use and manpower utilization.
  • Ability to organize and ensure sufficient flow of information, drawings and explanations to the manpower on the shop floor or in the field.
  • Ability to meet with customers to develop new processes, equipment, and the modifications to existing systems in order to meet the customized requirements in a fast-paced global economy.
  • Ability to use SolidWorks and AutoCAD with preference for those who have certified training completed.
  • Preference to those who can demonstrate an understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, assembly.
  • Knowledge of automation, pneumatics & hydraulics.
  • Must have knowledge of drafting principles and GD&T.
  • Provide mechanical layouts and details to production.
  • Provide technical assistance to Estimating, Sales, and Production as required.
  • Work well with supplier & customers as required.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
  • To pro-actively participate in the design of mechanical projects and their implementation from initial customer requests to the final commissioning of the project.
  • To take a hands on approach to assist the service technologist with the field service requirements of company customers as related to the machines, equipment, and systems we fabricate and service.
  • To assist in the troubleshooting and problem solving situations involving automated equipment and systems.
  • To source materials and services as required by the technical manager and service technologist.
  • To prepare detailed shop fabrication drawings from concept drawings as required.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of a quality assurance program (ISO 9002)
  • Work closely with technical manager and service technologist in areas of cost control, company competitive pricing and quality.
  • All other related duties as required.
